Technology and infrastructure

To provide the IPLA online television service, we employ our own technology adapted to major operating systems and a wide range of devices. We have unique technological expertise in encoding and streaming online audiovisual content as well as optimising the distribution of this type of signal. Unlike our competitors, we apply proprietary IT solutions enabling us to provide services best suited to the limited Internet infrastructure in Poland and the capabilities of external systems with which our applications are integrated. This means we are in a position to offer higher quality services than solutions commonly offered elsewhere. For instance, our system of HD video stream encoding (used to provide the IPLA service) uses half the bandwidth required to deliver the signal compared with solutions from other operators on the Polish market. Moreover, the DRM protection system supporting IPLA means we can offer paid content on mobile devices. As a result, our platform almost fully meets the trends and expectations of our subscribers in watching video content regardless of location, time of day or hardware they use. The ordering and payment process is also user-friendly.

IPLA on multiple devices

Internet users can access IPLA content from the website www.ipla.tv, but access is also enabled through special applications for users on Windows (including Windows 8) computers, smartphones, tablets, Smart TV sets (Toshiba, Samsung, LG, Philips, Panasonic, Sony, IKEA, Thompson, TCL, Sharp) and Sony PlayStation 3 consoles, as well as cable TV subscribers, e.g. TOYA. IPLA content can be viewed via set-top boxes of Cyfrowy Polsat and Netia Player. 3.9 million unique users on a wide variety of devices access IPLA content every month.
