Broadband Internet services are provided using the radio infrastructure of the Midas Group (Mobyland, CenterNet, Aero2) and Polkomtel. Following an agreement with Mobyland, we have access to LTE and HSPA+ wireless data transfer at 1800 MHz and 900 MHz, and a trilateral agreement with Mobyland and Polkomtel Sp. z o.o. provides for the use of EDGE/GPRS and HSPA wireless data transfer at frequencies in the 900 MHz and 2100 MHz range.
In January 2012, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) agreed on another mobile technology standard. ITU decided that ‘LTE-Advanced’ and ‘WirelessMAN-Advanced’ should come under the umbrella name of ‘IMT-Advanced’. In the future, IMT-Advanced will replace the IMT-2000 standard, which has been in development since 2000 and is commonly known as 3G. The target speed of technologies under the IMT-Advanced standard will be 100 Mbps when in motion (e.g. in the car) and 1 Gbps when stationary (through the mobile network). The 4G standard is still not comprehensively defined, but the term is employed by operators using LTE, HSPA+ and WiMax solutions.
Internet hardware
We offer the latest technology in modems, routers, and tablets for broadband Internet access. The prices of these devices vary by contract type and data plan. Typically, the prices are lower and the selection of offered models is wider for higher data allowances or longer contract periods.
In order to provide LTE-based broadband Internet access, we use the most advanced modems, which are also compliant with HSPA/HSPA+ and EDGE/GPRS technologies. With this solution, subscribers of Cyfrowy Polsat can use a single modem to access the Internet through LTE or HSPA/HSPA+ services and the EDGE/GPRS network, giving coverage over the whole of Poland.
We currently offer five such modems:
- Huawei E3276 – enabling data transfer with speeds of up to 150 Mbps
- Huawei E3272 – LTE category 4 modem
- Huawei E398, ZTE MF821 and ZTE M823 − enabling data transfer with speeds of up to 100 Mbps.
Our range of HSPA modems also includes our own Cyfrowy Polsat B150 and third-party ZTE MF669, Huawei E367 and Huawei E3131 models.
The modems are compatible with all laptop and desktop computers having USB 2.0 ports and support the leading computer operating systems. The devices are available with an externally-mounted clip antenna or standard antenna variety, issued at the subscriber’s request. The antenna improves the quality of signal reception, increases service availability range, and gives higher data transmission speeds.
We also offer our subscribers the market’s first tablet which supports LTE transfer speeds up to 100 Mbps – Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE, and the Huawei MediaPad 10.1 LTE 150 tablet, supporting connection speeds of up to 150 Mbps. The devices also support HSPA+.
Our tablet offering also includes such models as Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 3G, Manta MID9701 9,7” Wi-Fi, Manta MID802 8” Wi-Fi, Ferguson S3 7” Wi-Fi DVB-T (with DVB-T tuner and GPS) and Prestigio Multipad 2 Ultra Duo 8.0 3G, and also the Acer Aspire E1 laptop with Windows 8 for quick and easy Internet access via a modem.
Our product offering also features several routers, including a fixed-line Huawei B593u LTE/HSPA/HSPA+/UMTS/EDGE/GPRS router supporting download speeds of up to 150 Mbps.
